Gesture and Material

For this exhibition, the artist places material at the very heart of his work. Mohair and silk, chosen for their softness, natural lustre and ability to capture light, lend the works a presence that is both tactile and visual. The contrast between the precision of craftsmanship and the freedom of the line gives rise to works that invite a dual reading, at once intimate and architectural, where material enters into dialogue with drawing.

About the Author

Marcel Zelmanovitch

Painter and founder of the Galerie Diurne, Marcel Zelmanovitch has devoted himself to textile design for thirty years. His creative process focuses on the fabric’s features and the abstract composition of colours, lines and volumes reflects this approach. Shifting his artistic perspective to rugs craftmanship, he has taken the fabrics and traditionnal techniques to create numerous collections.
